A Community Development Trust for Strathnairn
We are a registered charity with the Scottish Charity Regulator (SCO49596). It is currently run entirely by volunteers. Strathnairn Development Company was formed in 2019 after a survey was conducted by Strathnairn Community Benefit Fund.
Our mission is to invest in the community in order to empower the current and next generation while respecting our heritage. We do that, by seeking community values, creating action plans and seeking necessary resources to invest in the future and provide long term, sustainable benefits for the community.
What is a development trust?
As a member of Development Trust Association Scotland (DTAS), our business model is planned to follow suit in terms of community, ownership and investment.
Development Trusts are community organisation which are owned and managed by the local community through membership.
Aim to reduce dependency on grant support by generating income through enterprise and ownership of assets. All trading surpluses are principally reinvested in the organisation or the community.
Invest in the future
Aim to achieve sustainable regeneration of a community or address a range of economic, social, environmental and cultural issues within the community.
Who are we?
We currently have 7 trustees that oversee SDC. We seek to work in partnership with various local bodies and community groups.
Board meetings are held monthly (currently via zoom).
Strathnairn Development Company (SDC) has engaged consultants, Impact Hub Inverness (IHI), to conduct a Community Action Plan (CAP) for Strathnairn. SDC is grateful to SCBF for funding this project.
